As the leaves start to fall, autumn announces the return of the Oscar-winning knight, Sir Kenneth Branagh, in the spotlight with ‘A Haunting in Venice’. In the aftermath of World War II, the celebrated detective, Hercule Poirot, played by Branagh, grows cynical of the world and its inhabitants. He chooses to retreat to the stunning city of Venice, abandoning mysteries to soak in the joys of growing his own garden and feasting on pastries.

Nonetheless, Poirot’s tranquil existence is abruptly disrupted when bestselling author Ariadne Oliver, brought to life by Tina Fey, invites him to a séance arranged by the famous medium, Joyce Reynolds, played by Oscar-winner Michelle Yeoh. The séance occurs at an eerie palazzo owned by the opera singer Rowena Drake, portrayed by Kelly Reilly. What the duo anticipated as a jovial night of debunking the supernatural turns sideways as they stumble into a murder mystery. Poirot finds himself grappling with whether to suspect those present or those from beyond while reluctantly re-embracing his crime-solving identity.

The newly released clip showcases a critical Poirot cautioning Joyce against taking advantage of those vulnerable. Poirot expresses doubt about the existence of a higher power, drawing upon his experiences. He adds, rather directly, that there are no ghosts or mediums to converse with them. At this precise moment, a chandelier plummets, even as Joyce spins around to question Poirot about his point.
