Michelle Yeoh to Star in ‘Blade Runner 2099’ Sequel Series for Prime Video

Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh, recognized for her role in Everything Everywhere All at Once, will headline Blade Runner 2099, a limited series on Prime Video. This show will follow the events of Blade Runner 2049 (2017) and continue the legacy of the Blade Runner franchise, originating from Philip K. Dick’s novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? and Ridley Scott’s iconic 1982 film.

Plot Details Kept Under Wraps

While Yeoh’s role and the show’s plot remain undisclosed, production began recently after a year-long delay due to the 2023 double strikes. Initially planned to film in Belfast, production shifted to Prague following the strikes.

Yeoh’s Recent Accolades and Upcoming Projects

Yeoh made history last year as the first Best Actress Oscar winner of Asian descent for Everything Everywhere All at Once. Her career began with 1990s Hong Kong action movies before she achieved international recognition in notable films and series like The Brothers Sun, The Witcher: Blood Origins, and A Haunting in Venice.

Recently, Yeoh received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor in the U.S. She will next appear in Jon M. Chu’s Wicked and Alex Kurtzman’s Star Trek: Section 31, reprising her role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou. Additionally, she is set to feature in James Cameron’s upcoming Avatar sequels. Yeoh is represented by David Unger of Artist International Group.
