There have been several significant changes to the cast of the reality television show “Real Housewives of Potomac” (RHOP) over the years. One of the most notable departures was Monique Samuels, who left the show after an intense altercation with co-star Candiace Dillard-Bassett during the fifth season.
Samuels and Dillard-Bassett Conflict
Monique Samuels had built a close friendship with Candiace Dillard-Bassett since she joined the series in 2017. But the friendship took a negative turn when an episode aired in October 2020, showed them engaged in a physical altercation. Cameras recorded as Samuels pulled Dillard-Bassett by her hair. Following the incident, Samuels, a mother of three, was charged with second-degree assault. However, she countered these charges, and both were dismissed as of December 2020.
Samuels’ Departure From RHOP
After an appearance in the season 5 reunion, Samuels announced her departure from the RHOP series. Despite former co-star Katie Rost making cameo appearances on the show since leaving, Samuels appears to have no plans to return to the franchise.
Katie Rost’s Role and Cameos
Katie Rost, who first appeared in the series’ debut season, saw her role reduced after the first season and was not present in season 3. She briefly returned in a “friend” status in season 4. Rost made another brief appearance during season 7 in October 2022.

Dixon claimed in an April 2024 episode of her “Reasonably Shady” podcast that she was “fired” from the series after eight seasons.
Monique Samuels
Monique Samuels returned to reality television post-RHOP with her husband in Love & Marriage: DC. In 2021, Samuels confirmed the passing of her family’s parrot, T’Challa, due to an accident. Despite rumors, Samuels affirmed her continued marriage to Chris Samuels in 2022. However, she filed for divorce from the former NFL player in June 2023.
Charrisse Jackson-Jordan
Jackson-Jordan, who underwent a documented split from Eddie Jordan, finalized her divorce in 2019. She continues to remain close to her RHOP costars and returned to the series in season 7 as a “friend” of the cast.
Katie Rost
Katie Rost, since her exit from the show, faced a 2019 custody battle over her children. Also in 2019, Rost became briefly engaged and openly talked about her past miscarriages. She has stepped away from reality TV to focus on her online jewelry store, The Katie Shop. In 2023, Rost announced her re-entry into rehab for alcohol abuse.
