Donnie Wahlberg Is ‘Incredibly Thankful’ for Blue Bloods on Final Day on Set

It was announced in November that Blue Bloods would wrap up with its 14th season. The show’s initial 10 episodes aired from February through May, with the final eight episodes slated for release this fall. Despite efforts by series lead Tom Selleck and other cast members to continue the show, CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach decided it was time to refresh the schedule, confirming the series’ end in May.

Reflections from the Cast

Donnie Wahlberg, who portrayed Danny Reagan since the show’s inception, expressed his gratitude on Instagram: “Last day of Blue Bloods. Not sure I have the words to describe how I feel about today, or the last 14 years on this special Blue Bloods journey, but I do know how incredibly thankful I am for every moment of it.”

Wahlberg also thanked the cast, crew, and fans, saying, “To the people of New York, in every neighborhood and borough, thank you for always showing your love. To the NYPD, thank you for your support and sacrifice, I hope we did you proud. Lastly, to my fans, and the fans of this show. We don’t make it 14 days (never mind 14 years) without you! Your love and support for this show has been one of the great blessings of my life. Thank you.”

Marisa Ramirez, who joined the cast in Season 3 as Maria Baez, similarly shared on Instagram, “Last day of Blue Bloods! I don’t have the words yet to express my joy or my sadness but at least I have a homemade sticker shield from Violet to replace the one I had to give back to props today. The sweetest…”

Vanessa Ray, known for playing Eddie Janko Reagan, posted a heartfelt message on her Instagram story featuring a photo of her with Wahlberg and Ramirez, accompanied by the words “last day feels” and “I love them so much it hurts.”

Potential Future for the Franchise

During an early June stockholders meeting, Paramount Global co-CEO Brian Robbins hinted at potential new series connected to Blue Bloods, though he did not specify whether any spinoff would be for CBS or Paramount+. Robbins mentioned that new franchise extensions are also planned for other shows like Dexter and Billions.

Wrapping Up

Blue Bloods’ final eight episodes will air this fall, continuing its tradition of Friday night broadcasts at 10/9c.
