Skyler Gisondo, Sara Sampaio Join Superman: Legacy as Jimmy Olsen and Eve Teschmacher

Big news for DC fans as the upcoming film, “Superman: Legacy” gains two new cast members, Skyler Gisondo and Sara Sampaio, who will be appearing as Jimmy Olsen and Eve Teschmacher, respectively. This news emerges following a resolution in the dispute between major studios and SAG-AFTRA, ushering in a wave of star-studded casting announcements. Both Olsen and Teschmacher are iconic characters with significant roles in previous Superman adaptations, ensuring their presence in the plot will be of interest to fans of the franchise.

Despite a disappointing box office projection for “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” information about the forthcoming DCU (DC Universe) is trickling in, generating much anticipation. This month has seen multiple casting reveals for “Superman: Legacy,” along with an official synopsis and a filming schedule.

As reported by Production List, filming for James Gunn’s debut DCU movie is set to commence in March. Collider additionally confirmed it to be toward mid-March. The film’s premise, divulged in the official synopsis is as follows:

“Superman, a cub reporter in Metropolis, embarks on a journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent.”

Recent Additions to the “Superman: Legacy” Cast

The roster for “Superman: Legacy” continues to expand following the resolution of the actors’ strike. Skyler Gisondo and Sara Sampaio have been confirmed as new additions to the cast, portraying Jimmy Olsen and Eve Teschmacher.

Earlier in June, David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan were named by James Gunn to enact Clark Kent and Lois Lane roles. Subsequent cast additions included Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, Edi Gathegi, and Anthony Carrigan as Guy Gardner, Hawkgirl, Mister Terrific, and Metamorpho respectively. With the major studio and SAG-AFTRA conflict resolved, more stars are joining the cast – Maria Gabriela de Faria and Nicholas Hoult were just announced as The Engineer and Lex Luthor. Now, two more names from the Superman lore have their on-screen counterparts.

The Hollywood Reporter announced that Skyler Gisondo is set to play the legendary Jimmy Olsen while Deadline reported that Portuguese model Sara Sampaio has been cast as Eve Teschmacher. Gisondo got his start in the industry with the series “Miss Match” and has since been featured in numerous big-screen and television projects. Sampaio, although only having four film credits, participated in an episode of “Billions” and played a role in the 2021 thriller “Crisis”.

Who are Jimmy Olsen and Eve Teschmacher?

Jimmy Olsen, created by Jerry Siegel, Joe Shuster, and Bob Maxwell, made his debut appearance in 1938’s “Action Comics #6”. He’s a photojournalist at The Daily Planet and shares a close friendship with Lois Lane and Clark Kent.

Olsen’s character has featured in various Superman adaptations through the years, ranging from movies to animated series and TV shows. Jimmy’s inclusion in “Superman: Legacy” isn’t a surprise given the plot’s significant focus on The Daily Planet and Clark and Lois’s relationship. However, the inclusion of Eve Teschmacher might raise a few eyebrows as her character was introduced outside the comic book pages.

First introduced in 1978’s “Superman” as the assistant to Lex Luther, the role was played by Valerie Perrine. Since her initial comic book appearance, Teschmacher has been part of several comic book titles as well as other Superman adaptations like “Smallville” and “Supergirl”. A similar character, Kitty Kowalski, was portrayed by Parker Posey in “Superman Returns”.
