Paul Rudd Says His ‘Ant-Man’ Diet Was ‘Horrible’

Knocking heads with Thor on the set of Avengers: Endgame, Ant-Man actor Paul Rudd admitted that standing beside Chris Hemsworth’s muscular Thor physique had him questioning his dietary commitment for his own on-screen superhero character.

Shockingly, even while sporting a less-than-pristine physique for his role in Thor: Love & Thunder, Hemsworth’s mighty build had Rudd wondering about the point of sticking to his Ant-Man diet. Rudd reflected on the hilarious, yet somewhat disheartening, experience in a recent appearance on the Off Menu podcast . Despite some self-doubt caused by Marvel’s ‘God of Thunder,’ Rudd assured fans he is on board for future Ant-Man and Avengers appearances.

“I remember on Endgame, Chris Hemsworth would always have these Tupperware containers, and he’s eating this gruel of just a mash of stuff. He’s working out, and then you stand next to a guy like that, and I just think, ‘Well, what’s the point of any of this?’ Why am I killing myself when that can exist, and then I look at myself, and this exists. I can never achieve that… That was the good thing that it was Ant-Man, it isn’t Thor. But I tried to work out, and it didn’t work.”—Paul Rudd

Ant-Man Returns to the MCU

Paul Rudd as Ant-Man will be donning the superhero mantle once again, joining the Avengers team in the battle against Kang’s variants in the upcoming Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.

Going from the standalone Ant-Man adventures, to playing a critical role in the mega-crossover event Avengers: Endgame, Scott Lang’s Marvel journey has been increasingly woven into the larger MCU narrative. His recent escapades in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which also introduced the villainous Kang, didn’t quite live up to the expectations by die-hard fans or at the box office. Nevertheless, the big-screen tease of more Kang encounters established a promising future for the Marvel’s film franchise, and gave a little taste of what’s to come in Loki’s second season.

The future of the MCU’s new nemesis Kang hangs in the balance due to legal issues of star Jonathan Majors. But one thing is certain, Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man will keep making waves in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And before he does so, you can catch him reprising his role as Grooberson in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, set to release early in 2024.
