And Just Like That… Season 3 Teases Fresh Starts, Surprises, and New Faces

New Yorkers are no strangers to spotting those brightly colored filming notices dotting their streets, especially when it comes to And Just Like That…, which carries on the legacy of Sex and the City by shooting in iconic Manhattan locations. But this time, even the show’s production team got a surprise: fake filming notices with hilariously absurd plotlines like “Carrie thinks her dentist is switching out her teeth” started popping up. The prank, masterminded by Brooklyn-based writer Kat Thek, became a viral sensation—and executive producer Michael Patrick King is all for it. “What I love is when what you’re working on becomes an interactive art piece with the world,” King told Entertainment Weekly.

King also teased plenty of real surprises for Season 3, promising “new everything”—from homes and relationships to characters and obstacles. With Carrie Bradshaw’s (Sarah Jessica Parker) romantic saga with Aidan Shaw (John Corbett) left on a five-year hiatus, King hinted this major plot point will be a driving force in the new season. “The Carrie-Aidan relationship is dramatic and exciting because it contains two points of view,” he explained. “Half the fans will say, ‘Enough!’ and the other half will understand what it means to love someone whose life includes their family.”

Fresh Faces and New Stories

Season 3 promises not only to deepen the stories of its core trio but also to introduce new faces and bring back some familiar ones. While Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) starts fresh with a new apartment and Charlotte York Goldenblatt (Kristin Davis) navigates the challenges of raising teenagers, the show also makes room for fresh romances and personal growth.

Among the new cast are Rosie O’Donnell, Cheri Oteri, Mehcad Brooks, Jonathan Cake, and Logan Marshall-Green. Broadway icon Patti LuPone joins the fray alongside Kristen Schaal and returning characters like Rosemarie DeWitt as Aidan’s ex-wife, Kathy. Meanwhile, Sarita Choudhury’s Seema continues her love story with filmmaker Ravi Gordi, and Nicole Ari Parker’s Lisa Todd Wexley confronts the aftermath of her miscarriage.

Notably absent are Sara Ramírez’s Che Diaz and Karen Pittman’s Nya Wallace. While Ramírez’s departure marks the conclusion of Che’s storyline, Pittman’s exit stems from scheduling conflicts with other projects. “Sometimes you see someone who is so important to you, and then you don’t see them again for 10 years,” King remarked, adding that their characters’ stories remain open-ended for potential future returns.

Carrie’s Voice Returns

In a shift back to its Sex and the City roots, Season 3 will heavily feature Carrie’s signature voiceover narration. King revealed that Carrie’s new book serves as a framing device for the voiceovers, making them more introspective and personal. “Writing a book is very private,” he noted. “It’s almost a direct, intimate conversation with the viewer.”

What’s Next?

With its mix of heartfelt storytelling and comedic absurdities, And Just Like That… Season 3 looks ready to offer fans plenty to talk about. Whether it’s the complexities of love at 50, navigating new relationships, or simply enjoying the ever-iconic backdrop of New York City, the show’s next chapter promises something for everyone—even if Carrie doesn’t end up hiring Jim Carrey’s lawyer from Liar Liar after a Citi Bike accident.
