Star Wars Celebration trailer provides a glimpse at a (new) young Indy.
Dr. Henry Jones, Jr., associate professor of archaeology at Marshall College, embarks on his last adventure in June with Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, which dropped an additional trailer on Friday during Lucasfilm’s Star Wars Celebration.
The fresh trailer for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny follows Harrison Ford’s Indy and Phoebe Waller-Bridge (portraying Indy’s goddaughter, Helena) as they endeavor to retrieve the eponymous dial, repeatedly snatching it from Mads Mikkelsen’s conniving Nazi antagonist. Discussions of retirement, rectifying errors, and achieving a final victory abound, all appropriate themes for the concluding (allegedly) Indiana Jones film. It’s hard NOT to feel nostalgic when the song kicks in.
The previous trailer, released in December, established the foundation for The Dial of Destiny, which will showcase a CGI de-aged Harrison Ford in specific scenes. Nostalgia is a significant factor for the 42-year-old franchise, but it remains uncertain how, or even whether, Disney intends to transition the series to new characters.
In The Dial of Destiny, Indy will don his fedora one final time to ensure Project Apollo reaches the Moon unimpeded by modern-day Nazis.
Joining Ford in the cast of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny are Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas, John Rhys-Davies, Shaunette Renee Wilson, Thomas Kretschmann, Toby Jones, Boyd Holbrook, Olivier Richters, Ethann Isidore, and Mads Mikkelsen. James Mangold (Logan, Ford v Ferrari) is directing.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny swings into cinemas on June 30. The film will debut at Cannes in May. Fingers crossed this one shall be good.
