Actor Forrie J. Smith, best known for his role as Lloyd Pierce in the Paramount Network drama “Yellowstone”, had a peculiar travel problem over the weekend. Smith posted a video on Instagram describing how he was left stranded at a Houston airport after being removed from his flight.
Controversy arouses over Masking in Houston Airport
In his Instagram video, Smith recounted: “I just got kicked off a plane in … Houston, Texas, because I told them I didn’t feel comfortable sitting next to someone with a mask on.” The video also revealed that Smith had been drinking during his wait in the airport but denied being drunk at the time, saying, “Yeah, I’ve been drinking. I’ve been sitting in the airport for three hours, but they threw me off the plane because I’m drunk.”
Previous Stances on Public Health Measures
This is not Smith’s first encounter with public health controversies. In 2022, he opted out of attending the Screen Actors Guild Awards along with his “Yellowstone” colleagues due to the SAG’s COVID-19 vaccine stipulation. He conveyed his decision via an Instagram video, where he stated, “I want to apologize to y’all for not being at the Screen Actors Guild Awards — I mean no offense to anyone, but I’m not vaccinated, and it’s a requirement to be vaccinated to be at the Screen Actors Guild Awards ceremony.”
Smith further expressed, “I’m not vaccinated. I will not get vaccinated. I haven’t been vaccinated since I was a little kid. I don’t vaccinate my dogs; I don’t vaccinate my horses. I’ve never had a flu shot — I never will. I believe they compromise your immunities.”
Smith’s Stance on Masking on Planes
In his Instagram video related to the airplane incident, Smith did not mention the airline he was traveling or his destination. He reiterated his discomfort with sitting near a person wearing a mask, saying, “I just told them I didn’t feel comfortable sitting next to someone that had to wear a mask, and I’m off the plane.”
Update on “Yellowstone”
On a related note, the Paramount Network announced late last year that “Yellowstone” is set to resume production on its ultimate episodes in late spring of 2024. The second half of its fifth and final season is scheduled to premiere in November 2024, concluding the flagship series from Taylor Sheridan.

Despite his controversial stance on public health measures such as masking and vaccination, Forrie J. Smith continues to have a key part in the popular drama series “Yellowstone”.
