The popular spin-off series from the Power franchise, Power Book II: Ghost, is set to conclude after its upcoming fourth season. News of the series’ conclusion comes a day after Starz unveiled plans for a prequel series exploring the origins of the characters Ghost and Tommy, portrayed by Omari Hardwick and Joseph Sikora.
Details of the Final Season
The final season of Power Book II: Ghost will be divided into two parts. The first part is scheduled for release on Friday, June 7, while the second part will premiere on Friday, September 6. Interestingly, the show’s June debut aligns with the 10th anniversary of the premiere of the flagship series in the Power franchise.
Kathryn Busby, the president of programming at Starz, guaranteed fans an explosive season in a recent statement. She said, “This explosive season of Ghost is a fitting crescendo in a decade of an immensely popular franchise. Fans will not be disappointed.” Busby assured fans that while one story is ending, Starz remains committed to the Power universe with more engaging storytelling on the horizon.
Farewell to a Beloved Series
From the executive production team of Courtney Kemp and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, the Power series launched in 2014 with the flagship series and ended in 2020 after six successful seasons and over 60 episodes. The franchise expanded with Power Book II: Ghost, Power Book III: Raising Kanan – which is currently in production on season four – and the Sikora-led Power Book IV: Force, with season three in progress.
The Power Franchise Continues
Despite an unsuccessful attempt to develop Influence as the fourth spinoff, Starz announced that there will be additional updates in the Power franchise. The premium cable network is set to separate from its current owner, Lionsgate. Meanwhile, Lionsgate Television, the studio responsible for producing the Power franchise, continues to support the series.
Star-studded Cast to Finish the Series
Power Book II: Ghost stars Michael Rainey Jr., alongside Mary J. Blige, Cliff “Method Man” Smith, Gianni Paolo, Woody McClain, Lovell Adams-Gray, LaToya Tonodeo, Alix Lapri, Larenz Tate, Caroline Chikezie, Lightskinkeisha, and Michael Ealy.
Starz’s roster of scripted originals also includes Curtis’s BMF, which was recently renewed for its fourth season, Outlander and its prequel spinoff, P-Valley, and the upcoming Spartacus: House of Ashur, among others.
