Dylan Gelula and Tyrese Gibson Star in Murder-Mystery ‘Helen’s Dead’ Trailer
Screen Media has pulled the wraps off the official trailer of Helen’s Dead, a bizarre murder mystery comedy orchestrated by producer K. Asher Levin. This film seems like a cinematic jumble that many might give a wide berth straight off the bat.
Helen’s Dead spins the tale of Addie, portrayed by Dylan Gelula of “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” fame. Post a sour split with her beau, Addie lands into an unexpected murder scene when she attempts to address her friend about betrayal suspicions. For reasons unexplained, it now falls to Addie to solve Helen’s murder before time runs out.
The ensemble cast also features Emile Hirsch, Tyrese Gibson, Matilda Lutz (as the deceased Helen), and Annabelle Dexter-Jones. The trailer seems somewhat reminiscent of the series “The Afterparty”, sans the charm and humor.
The film is a fascinating cocktail of suspicious characters woven into a plot that keeps you guessing. The script is by Amy Brown Carver, from a story by Levin and Carver. It is co-produced by Levin, Daniel Cummings, Robert Dean, Roy Scott MacFarland, and Todd Lundbohm. Helen’s Dead is set to hit select theaters and will be available on VOD starting November 3rd, 2023.
