Supernatural Reunion Confirmed in The Boys Season 5

The Boys is turning into a full-blown Supernatural reunion, as Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins officially join the series for its upcoming fifth and final season. The two actors will share scenes with their longtime co-star Jensen Ackles, who is reprising his role as Soldier Boy.

Eric Kripke, the creator of both Supernatural and The Boys, had previously teased that Padalecki could be making an appearance. Now, Amazon has confirmed that not only will Padalecki be part of the season, but Collins will also join him. A video announcement features Ackles telling Padalecki, “Hey, Jared. We got work to do… again,” to which Padalecki responds, “Okay. I’ll tell Misha.” Collins then appears, completing the nostalgic trio.

Details about their roles remain under wraps, but their appearances will be in a guest-starring capacity. Kripke has long expressed interest in reuniting the Supernatural cast, and with Padalecki’s schedule opening up after the cancellation of Walker, the timing was perfect. However, the addition of Collins was an unexpected but welcome surprise.

It’s unclear whether the duo will share screen time with fellow Supernatural alum Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who debuted in season 4 of The Boys as Joe Kessler. Morgan’s character has already proven to be a complicated figure in Butcher’s past, and his potential interactions with Padalecki and Collins remain a mystery.

The Boys season 5 is shaping up to be a massive event. Alongside the Supernatural reunion, new cast members include Hamilton and The Little Mermaid star Daveed Diggs in an undisclosed role and Mason Dye as the supe Bombsight. The final season will pick up from the events of season 4, which saw Homelander (Antony Starr) and the supes take over the U.S. government, setting up the series’ endgame.

Ackles’ return as Soldier Boy was teased in a post-credits scene from season 4, but his presence in the franchise extends beyond this season. He is set to headline the upcoming prequel series, Vought Rising, alongside Aya Cash’s Stormfront. The spinoff, set in the 1950s, will explore the origins of the superhero age.

The main cast of The Boys, including Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Erin Moriarty, Karen Fukuhara, Laz Alonso, Tomer Capone, Jessie T. Usher, Chace Crawford, Cameron Crovetti, and Colby Minifie, will all return for the final season. Season 4 newcomers Susan Heyward and Valorie Curry are also confirmed to reprise their roles.

With so many elements at play, The Boys season 5 is shaping up to be a thrilling and chaotic conclusion to the series, delivering a mix of intense action, dark humor, and a long-awaited Supernatural reunion.
