Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary celebration continues to deliver moments of hilarity, with Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson stealing the spotlight at SNL50: The Homecoming Concert. The star-studded event brought together past and present icons of the show to honor five decades of comedy and music.
During the special, host Jimmy Fallon playfully addressed the audience, clarifying that the concert would strictly feature musical performances and no awards would be handed out.
“Apparently, there’s been some confusion,” Fallon joked. “This is just a concert. We’re not giving out any awards tonight. So, I just want to make sure that everyone knows that.”
As Fallon made his announcement, Hanks and Wilson were humorously seen making an exaggerated exit from Radio City Music Hall, playing along with the bit to the delight of the audience. The moment, which quickly made waves online, added to the night’s lighthearted energy.
SNL50: The Homecoming Concert showcased an impressive lineup of musical acts, including Arcade Fire, Backstreet Boys, Bad Bunny, Bonnie Raitt, Brandi Carlile, Brittany Howard, Chris Martin, David Byrne, DEVO, Eddie Vedder, Jack White, Jelly Roll, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Mumford & Sons, Post Malone, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Robyn, and The B-52s.
The celebration isn’t over yet. The anniversary festivities will culminate with SNL50: The Anniversary Special, airing on Sunday, February 16, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on NBC and streaming on Peacock.
