The first trailer for Disney’s ‘Thunderbolts’ has been unveiled, featuring Florence Pugh reprising her role as Yelena Belova, a disillusioned assassin. Set to hit theaters in May 2025, the superhero movie centers on a team of shady characters navigating a world where they are both heroes and outcasts.
The trailer opens with Yelena reuniting with her father, Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, played by David Harbour. She expresses her feelings of emptiness despite her dangerous missions. Purpose soon returns to her life as she crosses paths with some of Marvel’s most notorious antiheroes.
“Everyone here has done bad things… So, someone wants us gone,” Yelena tells her fellow team members, including John Walker/U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), and Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), as they realize they’re being targeted for elimination after completing earlier jobs for an unknown villain.
“This could get messy,” Yelena warns her comrades in the action-packed teaser, which carries the tagline: “Careful Who You Assemble.”
The trailer also offers a glimpse of Lewis Pullman as Bob and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Val, who introduces the team of sudden expendables.
‘Thunderbolts’ faced delays due to the writers and actors strikes last year, with the latest release date set for May 2, 2025. Following production resuming after the Los Angeles labor actions, Geraldine Viswanathan replaced Ayo Edebiri, and Top Gun: Maverick actor Lewis Pullman replaced Steven Yeun due to scheduling conflicts.
The Marvel team-up movie also stars Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes and David Harbour as Red Guardian. Jake Schreier directs the film, with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige producing. Louis D’Esposito, Brian Chapek, Jason Tamez, and Scarlett Johansson serve as executive producers.
