Gary Oldman Leads Explosive Trailer for ‘Slow Horses’ Season 4

Gary Oldman is back and on the move in the highly anticipated fourth season of Slow Horses. The darkly humorous espionage drama, which has garnered critical acclaim, returns with Oldman reprising his role as Jackson Lamb, the gruff and brilliant leader of MI5’s most dysfunctional unit, Slough House.

Season 4 kicks off with a bang—literally—as a bombing shakes the unstable foundations of Slough House, unearthing buried secrets that could prove explosive for Lamb and his team of misfit spies. As the plot thickens, the team is thrust into a dangerous crossfire, pushing them to their limits.

The stellar ensemble cast sees the return of Kristin Scott Thomas, Jack Lowden, Saskia Reeves, Rosalind Eleazar, Christopher Chung, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Kadiff Kirwan, and Jonathan Pryce. The upcoming season also welcomes newcomers Hugo Weaving, Joanna Scanlan, Ruth Bradley, Tom Brooke, and James Callis, who are set to stir the pot even further.

Slow Horses has been a hit since its debut in 2022, racking up two BAFTA Television Awards and earning nine additional nominations. The third season alone scored nine Emmy nominations, including nods for Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor for Oldman, and Outstanding Supporting Actor for Lowden. The series has been praised for its sharp writing, expert direction, and compelling performances, making it a must-watch for fans of intelligent, character-driven thrillers.

The show is produced by See-Saw Films and adapted for television by Will Smith (Veep). Executive producers include Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, and a host of other seasoned talents. Season 4 is directed by Adam Randall, continuing the high standard set by previous episodes.

Slow Horses is set to return on September 4 with weekly episodes releasing on Apple TV+ every Wednesday through October 9. With the fifth season already announced, adapted from the fifth novel London Rules, fans have plenty to look forward to. Gary Oldman, ever the committed actor, has expressed his willingness to stick with the series for the long haul, potentially adapting all eight books in Mick Herron’s novel series. And with Herron already adding another book to the series, Oldman’s journey as Jackson Lamb might just continue beyond that.
