The developer of the monster-fighting game Palworld has established a new company, Palworld Entertainment, aiming to “accelerate the multifaceted global development” and further expand the game’s brand.
Joint Venture and Investment
Palworld Entertainment is formed through a partnership involving investments from Pocketpair, the game’s developer, and Sony via its Sony Music Entertainment and Aniplex brands. Aniplex Online will offer new Palworld merchandise, including plush toy versions of the game’s characters.
Irony in Business Partnership
There is an interesting twist in the choice of business partner, considering Palworld was initially launched as an Xbox console exclusive via Game Pass. However, this has led to speculation among fans about a potential PlayStation release, following hints by the game’s community manager suggesting its arrival on Sony platforms in the future.
Recent Updates
Recently, Palworld’s significant Sakurajima update introduced a new island and dedicated Xbox servers. This update follows the game’s initial launch in February, which attracted a substantial player base of 25 million, drawn by its similarities to the Nintendo-exclusive Pokémon. Nevertheless, there are no indications that Palworld will be released on the Nintendo Switch soon.
Legal Concerns
Despite initial concerns about potential legal issues from Pokémon, Pocketpair has confirmed that no legal action has been pursued in this regard.
Wrapping Up
Palworld continues to expand and evolve, both in terms of gameplay and brand reach.
