The fall primetime schedule for ABC’s 2024-2025 season includes longer episodes of the ‘Golden Bachelorette’. The newest season will consist of 90-minute episodes that will air on Wednesday nights. However, the regular feature ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ – the reality dating spinoff series – is conspicuously absent.
Bachelor in Paradise’s Uncertain Future
‘Bachelor in Paradise’ or ‘BiP’, was traditionally set for a premiere in August or September, but its fate for the upcoming season remains uncertain. Season 9 of ‘BiP’ which concluded in December 2023, ended with three couples – Aaron Bryant and Eliza Isichei, Kat Izzo and John Henry Spurlock, and Kylee Russell and Aven Jones – declaring their love. However, all three pairs announced their separation within a week of the finale.
Past seasons of the show have witnessed lasting relationships, including couples like Jade Roper and Tanner Tolbert, and Raven Gates and Adam Gottschalk. Former Bachelor Nation host Chris Harrison, who parted ways with the franchise in 2021, hinted at possible trouble for ‘BiP’ in a February episode of “The Most Dramatic Podcast Ever”. Harrison suggested ‘BiP’ could either be postponed or cancelled altogether.
Golden Bachelorette’s Extended Airtime and Unveiling of A New Leader
Whilst the future of ‘BiP’ remains unconfirmed, ABC announced that the inaugural season of ‘The Golden Bachelorette’ will air on Wednesday nights from September 1, with episodes being 90 minutes long. This marks a duration increase of 30 minutes compared to ‘The Golden Bachelor’.
The ‘Golden Bachelorette’ spinoff series was announced in February. It came a month after ‘Golden Bachelor’ stars Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist enjoyed a televised ‘Golden Wedding’ special, only to announce their divorce during an April appearance on ‘Good Morning America’.
The identity of the debutant ‘Golden Bachelorette’ still remains a secret. Casting director Jacqui Pitman hinted in a March conversation with WPVI-TV that the lead has already been selected, but gave no further details.
Additional Shows in ABC’s Fall Lineup
Alongside ‘The Golden Bachelorette’, ABC’s fall lineup includes three new shows: ‘High Potential’, a crime procedural led by Kaitlin Olson; ‘Scamanda’, a true crime docuseries based on the eponymous podcast; and ‘Doctor Odyssey’, a medical drama featuring Joshua Jackson.
