Chris Young, the well-known country singer, has demonstrated a willingness to collaborate with pop icon Beyoncé on her country music project. Although he did not work on her latest offering, “Cowboy Carter,” Young, 38, has expressed interest in a future partnership, stating, “Tell her I’m here for her.”
Beyoncé Enters the Country Music Arena
On her recent venture into the country genre, Young stated his approval and enthusiasm, saying, “I love it.” He went on to express his admiration for Dolly Parton’s spoken-word introduction to the song, “Jolene,” which was dubbed “Dolly P.”
Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter” was released in March and featured well-loved country music names, including the legendary Dolly Parton, 78. The latter added a unique touch to the album with a cleverly narrated introduction in which she referred to Beyoncé’s 2016 track, “Sorry,” from the album “Lemonade.”
Dolly Parton and ‘Cowboy Carter’
In the intro, Parton humorously referenced the mystery figure, ‘Becky with the good hair,’ whom Beyoncé mentioned in “Sorry.” Amidst much speculation over the identity of ‘Becky,’ Diana Gordon, the co-writer of “Sorry,” clarified that the lyric wasn’t about any particular person.
Parton’s Anticipation of Beyoncé’s Country Album
Parton, on the other hand, remained reticent about her involvement in “Cowboy Carter.” In March, she hinted that the album might feature a new version of her famous track, “Jolene.”
“I think she’s recorded ‘Jolene’ and I think it’s probably gonna be on her country album, which I’m very excited about that,” Parton said, adding her fondness for Beyoncé and praising her talent and beauty.
Collaborations on ‘Cowboy Carter’
“Cowboy Carter” includes collaboration with a host of music industry stars such as Willie Nelson and Linda Martell, who lent their voices for spoken-word pieces. Beyoncé also partnered with Miley Cyrus for a track, “II Most Wanted.”
On her take about the album, Beyoncé shared through Instagram, “I hope this music is an experience, creating another journey where you can close your eyes, start from the beginning and never stop. This ain’t a Country album. This is a ‘Beyoncé’ album. This is act ii COWBOY CARTER and I am proud to share it with y’all!”
