As we approach Mario Day on March 10th, speculation is rife about what surprises Nintendo and its partners have in store for fans of the beloved mustachioed mascot. One source of intrigue is LEGO’s plan to host a live stream one day prior to Mario Day, where they promise to unveil a range of surprises. LEGO has already whet fan’s appetites with a cryptic five-second teaser video, leaving everyone second-guessing who the unexpected arrival could be. Considering LEGO has already created sets for the majority of characters since the line launched in 2020, it will be exciting to see what they reveal.
LEGO’s Mario Day Teaser
LEGO has released a teaser video for the live stream but has yet to announce a specific release time. The brief teaser leaves much to mystery, with the video’s host expressing surprised at an unforeseen arrival and asking, “How did they get in?” Given that LEGO has almost entirely covered the franchise’s major characters, including Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Donkey Kong, to villains like Bowser, the Koopalings, and Kamek, it’s anyone’s guess who the newcomer could be. We might expect some sets based on last year’s Super Mario Bros. Wonder, or from characters like Geno and Mallow from Super Mario RPG.
Anticipated Mario Day Announcements from Nintendo
In addition to the LEGO live stream, we may also expect some announcements from Nintendo. Although the company has yet to confirm anything, reliable Nintendo leaker Pyoro has suggested that announcements regarding Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD may be expected during the week leading up to Mario Day.
Discounts and Offers for Mario Day
In line with tradition, Nintendo is expected to offer discounts on select games and products on Mario Day. This year, from March 7th to 17th, Switch owners can look forward to a reduced price of $39.99 on several games, including Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, and Mario Party Superstars. Physical copies of Mario games from participating retailers will also enjoy the same price point. To sweeten the deal, those who purchase a Switch during this promotion will receive a $25 giftcard.
