Jordan Peele’s fourth film postponed, no 2024 Christmas release

Due to the recent strikes, Jordan Peele’s eagerly awaited fourth film and another project have seen their potential release dates delayed. Fans are now eagerly anticipating a potential 2025 release. Aside from his work in cinema, Peele is also partaking in a fascinating video game project titled OD. His previous works, such as Get Out and Us, have significantly diversified the horror genre through their originality, social commentary, and notable success at the box office.

Jordan Peele’s Forthcoming Projects Delayed

Like many films scheduled for 2024 release, the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and Writer’s Guild of America (WGA) strikes have led to the delay of Jordan Peele’s fourth directorial endeavor, currently untitled. As reported by Variety, the filmmaker’s following venture had appeared on Universal Pictures’ official website with an exact release date of Christmas Day, December 25, 2024. However, that release has now been entirely withdrawn, and many are expecting a Summer 2025 release window for Peele’s film, similar to Nope‘s July release in 2022.

Future Projects Remain in Production Despite Delays

A second movie the director was working on through his MonkeyPaw Productions has also been postponed. Although little is known about this movie, it seems a concerning trend for Peele’s work. Nevertheless, as perDeadline, neither project has been canceled by Universal Pictures, and the delay is attributed to the strikes.

A Blend of Gaming and Cinema in the Horizon

However, Peele has other projects keeping him occupied. Entertainment Weekly reports that Peele was recently announced as a collaborator on an intriguing upcoming video game project, OD, developed by Hideo Kojima, renowned for games like Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding. The project promises to blur the boundaries between gaming and cinema.

““It is a game, don’t get me wrong, but it’s at the same time a movie, but the same time a new form of media,” Kojima said at the Game Awards earlier this month. “I grew up watching movies, and I’m a game creator now. Jordan grew up playing games, and he’s a movie director now. So this collaboration will be really awesome.”

Groundbreaking Horror Projects Continue

Universal Pictures continues to support Peele’s slate of groundbreaking horror projects. In keeping with tradition, Peele and Universal are maintaining secrecy about the premise, cast, working title, and even the genre of his new project. Fans can only guess that there will be a horror element blended in, consistent with Peele’s usual style.
