Marvel fans won’t have to wait much longer to catch Thunderbolts* at home. Disney has announced that the antihero team-up movie will officially start streaming on Disney+ beginning August 27, 2025. The film originally hit theaters on May 2 before heading to PVOD on July 1.
Directed by Jake Schreier with a screenplay by Eric Pearson, Lee Sung Jin, and Joanna Calo, Thunderbolts* brings together some of Marvel’s most dangerous misfits. The ensemble cast features Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, Lewis Pullman, Geraldine Viswanathan, Chris Bauer, Wendell Edward Pierce, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as the ever-scheming Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.
The story sees this unlikely crew trapped in a deadly setup that forces them onto a high-stakes mission, dragging each of them back to the shadows of their own troubled histories. Equal parts explosive Marvel action and murky psychological drama, the film positions its central characters as both reluctant saviors and potential threats.
Thunderbolts* marks another expansion of Marvel’s Phase 5 lineup and continues the studio’s dive into morally gray territory following projects like Black Widow and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. With its mix of familiar faces and new recruits, the film delivers the kind of ensemble chaos Marvel has been teasing for years.
