An animated fantasy film from the acclaimed director Charlie Kaufman will soon grace Netflix. The platform has released an initial clip from the movie, “Orion and the Dark.” The film, which draws talents such as Jacob Tremblay from “The Little Mermaid,” is set to commence streaming on Netflix starting February 2, 2024.

Plot Overview: Orion and The Dark
The plot of “Orion and the Dark” revolves around an elementary school kid named Orion, who underneath his ordinary façade, grapples with acute adolescent anxiety over irrational fears. His worst fear, the dark, materialises when the embodiment of his fear visits him. The plot further unfolds as Dark takes Orion on various adventures during the night, challenging Orion’s perspective toward fear and the unknown.

The film is directed by Sean Charmatz, known for his earlier works in animation. Charlie Kaufman, popularly known for his screenplay “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” penned the script. Other than Tremblay and Hauser, the film also features voice performances by Angela Bassett, Colin Hanks, Natasia Demetriou, Golda Rosheuvel, Nat Faxon, Aparna Nancherla, and Ike Barinholtz. The animation process was overseen by CG film executives Walt Dohrn and Bonnie Arnold, with Peter McCown serving as producer.
