First footage from Frasier revival released by Paramount+

Beloved sitcom character Frasier Crane is back in action. With the same quirks and charm, but a fresh set of challenges and relationships, the much-awaited Frasier revival is almost here.

Kelsey Grammer Strikes Back

As seen in the newly released trailer, Kelsey Grammer’s legendary character, Dr. Frasier Crane, remains unaltered in his quirky appeal. Slated to stream on Paramount+ by next month, this revival promises two episodes premiering on Thursday, October 12.

The Plot: Same Frasier, New Horizons

The official synopsis reads, “Same Frasier. New skyline,” and continues, “The new series follows Dr. Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer) in the next chapter of his life as he returns to Boston with new challenges, relationships, and dreams to fulfill.” Frasier’s transition back to Boston from Seattle signifies new beginnings and throws him in an interesting living situation with his son.

Cast Update: New Freddie in Town

Jack Cutmore-Scott plays the role of Frederick “Freddy” Crane, Frasier’s son, taking over from Trevor Einhorn from the original show. The portrayal of their bonding and relationship dynamics is a notable part of this new series.

Along with these main characters, Anders Keith debuts as David Crane, Frasier’s nephew. Moreover, appearances by Jess Salgueiro as Eve (Freddy’s roommate), Toks Olagundoye as Olivia (the head of an Ivy League university psych department), and Nicholas Lyndhurst as Alan Cornwall (Frasier’s college friend turned professor) form the main ensemble. Original stars Bebe Neuwirth and Peri Gilpin will also make cameo appearances as Lilith Sternin and Roz Doyle, respectively.

Remembering John Mahoney

The late, great John Mahoney, who played the lovable role of Frasier and Niles’ father, Martin, will be remembered in the series. His character traits will be reflected in the character of Freddie, serving as a tribute to Mahoney’s Emmy nominated performance. This unique tribute, along with a touching scene dedicated to Frasier discussing his father, underlines the revival’s emotional depth.
