The thrill isn’t over: More ‘Mission Impossible’ movies are on the way!

According to sources, there are plans for more “Mission: Impossible” movies following the release of “Dead Reckoning Parts 1 and 2.” The seventh installment of the popular franchise is set to hit theaters in July, with the first part of the two-part “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning,” and part two coming in 2024.

It’s worth noting that while many movie series tend to conclude with two-part finales, like “Harry Potter” and “Spider-Verse,” franchise director Christopher McQuarrie has stated otherwise.

In a recent interview with Fandango, McQuarrie revealed that “Dead Reckoning Parts 1 and 2” won’t be the end of the beloved series, further adding that they already have new ideas in place.

However, Variety previously reported that the two-parter would signal Tom Cruise’s departure from the franchise as Ethan Hunt. Should that be the case, it’s possible that “Dead Reckoning” will serve as Ethan’s send-off, paving the way for a new lead character in future films.

The release date for “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” is July 12, 2023.

The official synopsis reads: “Ethan Hunt and his IMF team embark on their most dangerous mission yet: to track down a terrifying new weapon that threatens humanity before it falls into the wrong hands. With control of the future and the fate of the world at stake, and dark forces from Ethan’s past closing in, a deadly race around the globe begins. Confronted by a mysterious, all-powerful enemy, Ethan is forced to consider that nothing can matter more than his mission – not even the lives of those he cares about most.”
