‘Severance’ Season 2 Trailer: Adam Scott Dives Deeper into Lumon’s Rabbit Hole

It’s time to clock back in at Lumon Industries—and it seems like the mysteries have only just begun. Apple TV+ has finally dropped the first trailer for the long-awaited second season of Severance, and it’s already looking like a mind-bending continuation. The new season is set to premiere on January 17, and fans have been buzzing since the reveal.

Adam Scott’s Mark S. is back, and things aren’t exactly going smoothly. After the shocking ending of Season 1—where his “innie” self got a peek at his outie’s real life—Mark is left to grapple with some pretty huge truths. Among them? His supposedly deceased wife is alive and well, working as Lumon’s wellness counselor, Ms. Casey. Not awkward at all.

The trailer shows Mark frantically rushing through Lumon’s sterile white halls, only to stumble upon three new employees in the office that once belonged to his old team: Helly (Britt Lower), Irving (John Turturro), and Dylan (Zach Cherry). And of course, in a typical Lumon twist, his ever-smiling, unsettling manager Milchick (Tramell Tillman) greets him—this time with balloons that have Mark’s face plastered on them. Because what’s a creepy office reunion without a touch of surreal celebration?

For those unfamiliar, Severance tells the story of Lumon Industries, where workers have had their personal and work lives surgically separated. Season 1 left viewers on a cliffhanger so intense, it made waiting for Season 2 an exercise in patience. Originally premiering in February 2022, the first season was a sci-fi thriller with an office twist, and Season 2 promises to dive even deeper into Lumon’s dark secrets—especially after a series of production setbacks, from Hollywood strikes to behind-the-scenes creative drama.

Returning for Season 2 are Patricia Arquette, Christopher Walken, Dichen Lachman, Jen Tullock, and Michael Chernus. But it’s not just the familiar faces; new cast members include Gwendoline Christie, Alia Shawkat, Bob Balaban, Merritt Wever, Robby Benson, John Noble, Ólafur Darri, and others. With a lineup like that, it’s hard not to get excited about the chaos bound to unfold at Lumon.

The show’s creator Dan Erickson continues as executive producer alongside director Ben Stiller, Adam Scott, and others. This time, Patricia Arquette also joins as a producer, ensuring her signature intensity leaves a mark on the new season. As for what’s ahead, John Turturro gave Variety a cryptic teaser back in September, saying, “We are delving into the unknown that the audience is waiting for, and then doing it incrementally.”

Stiller, ever the realist, added, “It’s taken a long time. I hope it’s good. People are just wanting something to live up to what they’ve experienced and have it hopefully not let them down.” After the gut-punch ending of Season 1, we’re all counting on Season 2 to bring more of that deliciously unsettling Lumon magic.
