The Marvels team up in first teaser trailer

While it may not be as flashy as their endeavors with a certain major antagonist whose future in the franchise remains uncertain, Marvel Studios has been discreetly laying the groundwork for the team-up film, The Marvels, since the release of Captain Marvel in 2019 Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau (also known as Spectrum and Captain Marvel) gained her superpowers in WandaVision after initially appearing as a child in Captain Marvel. Subsequently, Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan (a.k.a. Ms. Marvel) acquired her superpowers in her own Disney+ series, and Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel has possessed her superpowers for quite some time. These characters will all come together in The Marvels later this year.

A trailer showcasing a medley of magnificent Marvel wonders has been unveiled by Marvel Studios. Although the trio of heroes have distinct powers, they are mysteriously “intertwined.” This means that when one of them activates her powers, she inadvertently switches places with another—regardless of her location in the universe. Consequently, Kamala finds herself on Nick Fury’s (Samuel L. Jackson) space mission, Monica battles Carol’s adversaries, and Carol unexpectedly lands in Kamala’s bedroom, a haven for Avengers aficionados. In order to unravel this mystery, the group must collaborate, much to Kamala’s excitement and her fellow Marvel allies’ chagrin.

The aftermath of Captain Marvel’s events will also serve as the foundation for the forthcoming Disney+ series, Secret Invasion. This series follows Nick Fury as he takes on the responsibility of thwarting a covert incursion by the shape-shifting Skrulls (whose efforts to elude the Kree’s relentless pursuit were a significant twist in the aforementioned film). It seems that, in the years since that film, circumstances have not particularly improved for our large-chinned extraterrestrial companions.

The Marvels, directed by Nia DaCosta, is set to hit theaters on November 10.
