The Storyline of The Bride!
The Bride! explores the tale of a lonely Frankenstein who travels to 1930s Chicago and seeks the aid of a doctor, Euphronius. Together, they aim to create a companion for Frankenstein by reviving a murdered young woman. This reinvention, however, yields unintended consequences, leading to a fiery romance, police interest, and the rise of a driven social movement.
This proposition is based off Mary Shelley’s legendary gothic novel Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus.
Gyllenhaal’s Directorial and Production Role
Maggie Gyllenhaal not only directs but is also among the producers of The Bride!, working alongside Talia Kleinhendler, Emma Tillinger Koskoff, and Osnat Handelsman-Keren. This venture marks Gyllenhaal’s second directorial project, following The Lost Daughter from 2021, a film that secured her an Oscar nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.
