JK Simmons Reveals Which is Worse: ‘Invincible’s’ or ‘Baldur’s Gate 3’s’ Dad

JK Simmons, best known for his roles as Omni-Man/Nolan Grayson in Prime Video’s Invincible and Ketheric Thorm in Baldur’s Gate 3, has been widely recognized for his portrayals of antagonistic father figures. In a recent conversation to promote Season 2 of Invincible, Simmons discussed these two characters and their potential for redemption with ComicBook.

JK Simmons’ Take on His Characters

Simmons notably lent his voice to Omni-Man/Nolan Grayson in Prime Video’s Invincible and played Ketheric Thorm, one of the main antagonists of Baldur’s Gate 3. As he had given life to so many nefarious father figures, Simmons was asked who among Omni-Man and Ketheric Thorm was truly the worst.

He mentioned that since Invincible is still airing on Prime Video, Omni-Man’s character development isn’t complete. He thus holds a hopeful outlook that Omni-Man might still have a change of heart and end up being the lesser of the two mean characters.

A Possible Redemption?

Simmons stated, “I think we’re in the middle of what we hope to be a much longer arc with Omni-Man. So obviously he’s not Fred MacMurray on My Three Sons, but I feel like there’s always the possibility of redemption. So I’m going to say the jury is still out, but I hope that Omni Man would not win the Worst Dad competition when all is said and done.”

Observing the exploration of a different side to Omni-Man in Invincible’s Season 2, Simmons’ hopes for his character’s change seem possible, albeit his wrongdoings from Season 1 aren’t easily forgettable. Ketheric Thorm’s character, on the other hand, was so thoroughly evil that redemption seemed impossible. Viewers can only wait and see where Omni-Man will land by the end of Invincible’s run.

Returning to Invincible

Simmons is once again cast as Omni-Man for Invincible’s Season 2, which returned to Prime Video last week. With every week, a new episode premieres, and with two more episodes left, audiences can look forward to a captivating finale. Furthermore, Season 3 is reportedly in development, although no release date has been announced by Prime Video yet.

Wrapping Up

JK Simmons’ portrayals of characters with deep-seated flaws add an extra layer to their personas. As Omni-Man and Ketheric Thorm, he has demonstrated his ability to bring to life characters that can invoke intense feelings in the viewers. It remains to be seen whether his hopes for Omni-Man’s redemption will be realized.
