Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds’ on-screen avatar, the much-loved Marvel character Deadpool, made a surprise appearance at the Creative Arts Emmys. The actor accepted an award for the docuseries Welcome to Wrexham in the Deadpool get-up, much to the delight of fans.

Welcome to Wrexham is a reality show that follows Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney as they navigate the complex and exciting world of football ownership. Their goal? Transform a struggling fifth-tier football team into a feel-good underdog story. The show brought home the Creative Arts Emmy for Outstanding Unstructured Reality Series.
In addition to taking home the award for the best reality series, Welcome to Wrexham also secured Emmys for Outstanding Cinematography For A Reality Program, Outstanding Directing For A Reality Program, Outstanding Sound Mixing For A Reality Program, and Outstanding Picture Editing For An Unstructured Reality Program.
Deadpool Returns in July 2024
The infamous antihero Deadpool, played by Reynolds, is set to make a comeback in Deadpool 3, slated for release in July 2024. The film is a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase Five and promises to continue the raucous, R-rated antics that fans have come to associate with the franchise.
