Jeremy Renner Recounts Near-Death Experience, Drops New Single Dedicated to Daughter

Jeremy Renner, the Academy Award nominee and star of Marvel and the Paramount+ series Mayor of Kingstown, opened up about a near-death experience he had due to a snowplow accident. During a CNN’s New Year Eve special, the actor spoke about his ordeal and how it reshaped his outlook on life.

Renner revealed how the accident emphasised the importance of cherishing time spent with loves ones. It was this realization and a fighting spirit that helped him quickly recover from this life-altering experience. Despite the ongoing physical pain, Renner stated that he managed to deal with it mentally, attributing the power of the mind.

“I’m just so blessed that I had so many things to live for. I have a giant family. I have a 10-year-old daughter. I would have disappointed and really messed up a lot of people’s lives if I would’ve passed. So, there’s a lot for me to get better for. I’m also a pretty stubborn S.O.B., and there’s a lot for me to have to fight for.”

Renner expressed great relief over his recovery, explaining how he perceived it as a way to provide relief to his family and others affected by his accident, particularly his nephew who was present during the incident.

“Recovery was just a one-way road in my mind, and recovery became a relief for me because I know I could give relief to my family, my daughter, to all those that I really affected.”

Further demonstrating his resilience, he revealed that he funneled his recovery journey into creating a musical album. The actor released a new single titled “Wait” and hinted at a possible release of the entire album, which he had written during his recovery period.

The circumstances leading to Renner’s near-death experience were revealed through police reports and the actor’s own account during the days following the accident. It was reported that the emergency brake on the plow Renner was driving had failed and the vehicle nearly hit his nephew. In a courageous attempt, Renner managed to save his nephew but ended up being crushed by the plow himself.

“A collection of music we wrote about different milestones in my journey of recovery since Jan 1st this year. “Love and Titanium” has been painful, deeply healing, and ultimately cathartic for me to create. I hope I get the courage to share with you all.”

Even though Renner faced horrific injuries, he appreciates the fact that it could have been much worse. The Mayor of Kingstown star told CNN how the incident reshaped his view on life, “He said: I’m very, very clear. My life is really lean…don’t have time for… So, there’s something really beautiful about having that superpower.”

“It’s all a mental game. I put it in my back pocket now. I know how to deal with pain. It’s all mind. It’s all in the mind. If you can sift through the fog of it all, I am very blessed.”

In the time to come, Renner fans can look forward to seeing him in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Disney+’s television show Rennervations. The actor’s two seasons of Mayor of Kingstown are available on Paramount+ and it is reported that the third season is currently in development.
