The movie is set to premiere at some of the most prestigious film festivals, including the Toronto International Film Festival in North America, the 61st New York Film Festival in the U.S., the San Sebastian International Film Festival in Europe, and the BFI London Film Festival in the UK.

Fans should mark their calendars for November 22, when the film will enjoy a limited U.S. release. Following that, it’s all systems go for a broader release across the nation and Canada on December 8, even gracing IMAX screens. Echoing the tradition of previous Studio Ghibli titles, The Boy and the Heron will offer versions in both its original Japanese with English subtitles and a newly dubbed English version.
