Actor Jamie Foxx has broken his silence regarding his recent medical emergency in a new Instagram video, speaking to his followers for the first time since his hospitalization in April for an as-yet-undisclosed condition.
The Oscar-winning performer released a video update in the early hours of Friday, addressing his fans directly. Despite the rampant speculation regarding his health, Foxx chose not to disclose specific details about his hospitalization.
Foxx stated, “I know a lot of people were waiting or wanting to hear updates but to be honest with you, I just didn’t want you to see me like that, man. I want you to see me laughing, having a good time, partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie, television show. I didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was gonna make it through.”
In his heartfelt message, Foxx singled out his sister and daughter as his lifelines during his medical crisis. He said, “To them, to God, to a lot of great medical people, I’m able to leave you this video.”
Recently spotted in Chicago, Foxx had been seeking medical treatment at a specialized facility, catering to patients with physical impairments and injuries related to the brain or spine.
Dispelling rumours floating around on social media, Foxx assured his fans, “As you can see, the eyes are working, the eyes are working just fine. I’m not paralyzed, but I went to hell and back, and my road to recovery had some potholes as well. But I’m coming back and I’m able to work.”
Earlier in the day, Foxx had shared a photo of himself sitting atop a golden car, with a caption hinting at “big things coming”.
Jamie Foxx’s new movie, They Cloned Tyrone, was just released on Netflix.
Wrapping up his video update, the actor expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of support he had received. He said, “I love everybody and I love all of the love that I got … If you see me out from now on and every once in a while I just burst into tears, it’s just because it’s been tough, man. I was sick, man. But now I got my legs under me, so you’re gonna see me out.”
