Capcom isn’t playing around with Monster Hunter Wilds’ first major update. With Title Update 1 launching tomorrow and ushering in a new set of speed-based Arena Quests, the publisher has made it clear: cheaters, beware.
According to an official post from the Monster Hunter X/Twitter account, Capcom will be actively policing fraudulent behavior that could compromise the new competitive quests. If you’re using external tools or cheating to mess with Completion Times or rankings, don’t be surprised if your account gets suspended—or worse, locked out of rewards.
“To ensure a fun and fair experience for our players, we will take action against accounts participating in fraudulent ranking activity,” Capcom stated. “Accounts deemed to be in breach of this may be suspended, or have restrictions placed on them, such as being unable to receive rewards from these quests.”
That’s not all. Even if you’re not cheating, simply playing with someone who is could put your loot in jeopardy. Capcom warns that if you team up with rule-breakers, you may end up with invalid quest times and lose access to rewards entirely. In other words: guilty by association.
“Please take caution to avoid playing multiplayer with those who are engaging in prohibited activity, or those you suspect of such,” the post continues. If things seem off mid-quest, Capcom encourages players to report cheaters immediately.
The new time-based competition quests will be run through the Arena Quest Counter located in the Grand Hub of Suja. But before you can access them, you’ll need to complete a special tutorial mission to unlock the Grand Hub itself.
Rewards include cosmetic pendants—some given to all participants, others tied to fast Completion Times and high hunter rankings. Which is why Capcom is going full palico-police mode to keep the leaderboards clean.
Title Update 1 drops tomorrow, so if you haven’t already, it’s time to brush up on your build, tighten your loadout, and maybe double-check who you’re partying with.
