A Curse Haunts a Pop Star in Trailer for Smile 2

Paramount Pictures has released the trailer for Smile 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2022 horror hit. The new film shifts its eerie focus to pop star Skye Riley, played by Naomi Scott, who becomes entangled in a terrifying curse.

Skye Riley, like many celebrities, has her share of obsessive fans, but in Smile 2, these admirers come with sinister smiles. The trailer teases an unsettling atmosphere as Riley confides, “Something really crazy is happening to me. I keep seeing this face everywhere.” Following a disturbing event, she experiences a mental breakdown, pleading, “Stop smiling at me!”

Returning from the original Smile, Parker Finn resumes his role as writer and director. Kyle Gallner also reprises his role as Joel, adding continuity to the chilling saga. The sequel boasts a strong supporting cast including Rosemarie DeWitt, Lukas Gage, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Peter Jacobson, Raúl Castillo, Dylan Gelula, and Ray Nicholson.

According to the official synopsis, “About to embark on a new world tour, global pop sensation Skye Riley begins experiencing increasingly terrifying and inexplicable events. Overwhelmed by the escalating horrors and the pressures of fame, Skye is forced to face her dark past to regain control of her life before it spirals out of control.”

The original Smile film was a sleeper hit, earning over $200 million worldwide on a modest $17 million budget. The story revolved around a psychiatrist named Rose Cotter, played by Sosie Bacon, who is plagued by a similar malevolent curse.

Fans of the first movie can look forward to Smile 2 haunting theaters on October 18th.
