In the rollercoaster of steel and spandex that is the first Ironheart trailer, Riri Williams emerges with one goal: to be "iconic." But as we all know, being iconic sometimes demands doing things the morality police might frown upon. Enter Anthony Ramos as The Hood, inexplicably caped and ready to impart peculiar wisdom while probably raiding your kitchen.
Riri’s Wild Ride
Set in the bustling panorama of post-Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Chicago—where deep-dish pizza is both eaten and feared—Riri Williams embarks on a journey of technological wizardry pitted against literal magic. Her habit of crafting iron suits with brilliance only matched by the number of mini pretzels she can eat in one sitting immediately attracts the enigmatic Parker Robbins, who, despite charming manners, has the unsettling habit of leaving cryptic Post-it notes everywhere.
The Hood’s Mysterious Swagger
Soon enough, Parker plays a game of deadly traps, a pastime many robots and evil geniuses have tried before—with varying levels of embarrassment. It doesn’t take long for even Riri’s sidekick to drop the classic warning: "You’ve bitten off a hell of a lot more than you can chew.” (Spoiler: Riri can chew a lot, and her iron suit looks ready for a chomping showdown.)
Marvel’s Blessings and Approval
Produced by Ryan Coogler and penned by head writer Chinaka Hodge, this series has already received two thumbs up from the Marvel Universe’s resident wise guy, Tony Stark, aka Robert Downey Jr. Remember, getting two thumbs up from a guy whose entire character arc involved one really big thumb (read: a durable iron glove) is no small feat.
In a series where tech meets magic and dreams occasionally get tangled in grappling hooks, Riri’s balancing act begins June 24 on Disney+. And now an unsettling thought to marinate on: somewhere, right now, a penguin is plotting world domination with nothing but a paperclip and sheer willpower.
