The stakes have never been higher for the Cobra Kai crew. Forget those hallway karate battles and striving to become the best in the Valley—this time, it’s international. In the newly released trailer for part two of the sixth and final season, Cobra Kai is headed to the Sekai Taikai, the ultimate global karate competition. And, well… things aren’t looking so hot for our favorite dojo. The beloved Karate Kid spin-off series returns on November 15, and it appears Miyagi-Do’s getting their collective asses handed to them.
In the first half of this final season, Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang joined forces, choosing their finest fighters for the Sekai Taikai. But just as things seemed to be coming together, John Kreese (Martin Kove) made an unexpected comeback, while Tory (Peyton List) decided to defect. The tension is only ramping up in part two, as the official synopsis teases: “Miyagi-Do faces new challenges and old enemies as they fight to become world champions—can they stay united as internal rivalries bubble back to the surface?”
The trailer doesn’t shy away from delivering a hefty dose of drama and beatdowns. Cue the slow-motion action shots, the blood splatters, and a competitor in Barcelona taunting Tory with a perfectly O.C.-inspired line, “Welcome to Barcelona, bitch,” right before giving her a taste of defeat. The Miyagi-Do crew, filled with familiar faces, isn’t having an easy time of it, and there’s a moment when it looks like they’ve lost all hope: “There’s no way that we can win,” one of them says, downtrodden. It’s a far cry from their confidence in seasons past.
Meanwhile, the senseis are also deep in their own mess. Kreese is back, looming over Daniel (Ralph Macchio) with threats like, “Some of us have nothing to lose. But not you. You’ve got a lot to lose.” And there’s a new sensei in town, played by Lewis Tan, who isn’t missing a chance to throw shade at Johnny (William Zabka): “I know Americans. You have no idea what it takes to win… here, in Barthelona.” But if there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s that the scrappy Miyagi-Do underdogs are always one training montage away from proving their worth.
Cobra Kai has had a wildly successful run on Netflix after its move from YouTube Red, but Netflix seems determined to keep us hanging on—maybe a little too long. The final season has been divided into not just two, but three parts. Part two drops this November with a tight batch of five episodes. As for the third installment, dubbed the “Finale Event,” it’s slated to arrive sometime in 2025. Here’s hoping we get some answers—and a trophy—before that! The countdown to crowning the Sekai Taikai champ has officially begun.
