Martin Scorsese is back with another lengthy film, “Killers Of The Flower Moon,” following his acclaimed and also very long 2019 release, “The Irishman.”
Clocking in at three hours and 26 minutes, the new movie centers around a series of 1920s murders in Oklahoma’s Osage Nation, committed after oil was discovered on tribal land.
With an all-star cast that includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Jesse Plemons, Lily Gladstone, and Brendan Fraser, Scorsese and company are undoubtedly angling for a healthy awards season run.
However, given “The Irishman’s” 10 Oscar nominations and zero wins, one has to wonder if such a long runtime is worth the investment, both financially and in viewers’ time.
Killers of the Flower Moon is set to have its world premiere at the 76th Cannes Film Festival on May 20th, 2023. It will be released in select cinemas on October 6th, 2023, before going wide in the United States on October 20th, 2023, by Paramount Pictures.
