Blumhouse’s Imaginary Gets PG-13 Rating

Get ready for another thrilling movie experience from Blumhouse Productions. Known for their epic horror franchises, the production company’s upcoming flick, titled Imaginary, has officially received a PG-13 rating from the Motion Picture Association’s (MPA) Film Ratings website. And yes, the company, which also produced the 2024 hit Night Swim and 2023’s Five Nights at Freddy’s, is continuing its recent trend of embracing PG-13 ratings for specific projects.

Imaginary’s PG-13 Rating

Deviating from their legacy of R-rated horror classics like The Exorcist: Believer and the Halloween series, Blumhouse has lately been leaning towards the PG-13 bandwagon. According to the MPA’s Film Ratings website, Imaginary is given a PG-13 label citing “some violent content, drug material, and language” in the movie.

What to Expect from Imaginary?

Dive into the world of Imaginary where things are not just as they appear! When Jessica, played by DeWanda Wise, relocates to her old family home, Alice, her youngest stepdaughter (Pyper Braun), discovers an old stuffed bear named Chauncey in the basement. Alice’s attachment to this inanimate object soon turns intense, leading to a series of sinister games, hinting at a reality beyond our comprehension.

The film is helmed by Jeff Wadlow, known for his work in Kick-Ass 2 and The Curse of Bridge Hollow. Apart from directing, he is also co-writing and co-producing the movie. The cast includes a compelling lineup featuring DeWanda Wise, Pyper Braun, Tom Payne, among others.

Movie Release Information

Though initially set for a release in February 2024, the premiere of Imaginary was postponed due to the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) strike. Fear not, fellow film enthusiasts, the movie is now marching towards a US theatre release on Friday, March 8, 2024, brought to you by Lionsgate and Blumhouse Productions.
