Eric Roberts Shares Marriage Advice for DWTS Partner Britt Stewart

Eric Roberts may be learning the foxtrot from his Dancing With the Stars partner Britt Stewart, but he’s got a few lessons of his own to share—particularly about marriage. Stewart and her season 31 partner, actor Daniel Durant, made waves last December when they announced their engagement, and Roberts, who’s been married to Eliza Garrett for 32 years, had some advice to offer on making a relationship last.

Stewart, who teamed up with Roberts for DWTS season 33, shared that she has been soaking in Roberts’ advice, even if some of it wasn’t exactly Disney-friendly. “We are on Disney so I’m not gonna say his full advice,” Stewart quipped. “But honesty is one, and I have to say it’s so full circle to be engaged, getting married, and then to be witnessing a 32-year-long marriage every single day.”

The pair performed a foxtrot to Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together” on Monday night during Soul Train Night, dedicating the dance to Roberts’ wife, who was in the audience. Judges Derek Hough and guest judge Rosie Perez both praised Roberts for the touching dedication, with Roberts joking, “Well, I paid him a lot of money for that. No, it was very moving especially [from] Rosie because I know her and I love her. She’s really kind.”

Stewart and Durant originally paired up on season 31 of Dancing With the Stars in the fall of 2022. Their chemistry led to plenty of rumors, but the two confirmed that their romance only began after the competition ended. “I think, in that moment, we realized what we had felt for each other,” Durant previously said, describing how they connected after his elimination. “It was more than friends, and naturally we connected and started dating after that.”

The pair went public with their relationship on Valentine’s Day 2023 and announced their engagement in December. Durant, who is deaf, gained widespread recognition for his role in the Oscar-winning film CODA and is currently starring in Deaf West’s production of Green Day’s “American Idiot” in Los Angeles.

Roberts and Stewart earned a score of 24 for their foxtrot, which will be combined with Tuesday night’s score from Hair Metal Night. The competition continues as viewers wait to see if Roberts’ heartfelt performance—and his marriage wisdom—can propel them to the next round.
